Can't wait for this!
Nicholas Merrill has told CNET about plans to start a new privacy-protecting Internet service.
This service would provide internet with the intention of shielding customers from surveillance. With his setup, the internet provider would not have access to unencrypted user data, meaning even if an authority were to demand the provider for information that has been sent or received by a user, Nicholas Merrill's service would not be able to do so.

The pirate provider could potentially be used as a shield by people with bad intentions, but it would show people like Lamar Smith that the internet belongs to the people and should not be a door into the privat life of users.

Until then I guess people have to keep using proxy servers and Tor to keep some anonymity online.
